CROATA supported young geographers on the International Competition in Taiwan

8th International Geography Olympiad was held from 29th July till 4th August 2010 in Taipei, Taiwan. The best Croatian young geographers were also participants of the Competition.
International Geography Olympiad is held under the sponsorship of International geography union since 1996. On the Olympiad only the most successful high school students (16 - 19 years) from all over the world have the right to compete. At the Olympiad 27 countries have been competed, amongst them Croatia for the first time. In Croatian team there were four high school students with their mentors from Department of Geography, Faculty of Science in Zagreb. Croatian geographical society, together with Ministry of Education, Science and Sport and Agency for Education, are organizers of Geographical competition in Croatia.
Croatian team was very successful and won two bronze medals in individual competition and an award for the best land poster, but they also successfully presented our country at the night of cultural presentations. Through short presentation, Croatian team told a story about Croatian origin of the cravat and held a short contest in tying the cravat.
